Purpose
To celebrate and showcase the creativity, talent, and diverse perspectives of Tasmanians with disability as part of International Day of People with Disability and Human Rights Day.

We use a human rights model of disability based on the Disability Rights Inclusion and Safeguarding Act 2024 (the Act). The Act defines disability as:
“In relation to a person, includes long-term physical, mental, cognitive, intellectual or sensory impairments which in interaction with various barriers may hinder the person’s full and effective participation in society on an equal basis with others.”

The theme of the the exhibition is: ‘What is living my best life?’
There is no entry fee.
Two and three dimensional artworks should be no bigger than 1 metre x 1 metre. Alternatively, two small artworks can be submitted. For creative writing, the maximum word limit is 800 words. For digital artwork (film, animation, sound), the artwork should be no longer than 5 minutes.
Artwork must be the artist’s original work and labelled with your name and title of the artwork.
The artist is responsible for ensuring that no relevant copyright laws are infringed.
For two and three dimensional artwork, a photo or scan of the artwork should include the entire artwork and be no larger than 10MB. Please provide your name and the title of the artwork in the file name, e.g. Jane Smith – Living My Best Life.jpg.
Digital and written artwork are to be uploaded as part of the online application form. Alternatively, you can email it to: contact@disabilitycommmissioner.tas.gov.au, or mail to: Disability Commissioner Tasmania, GPO Box 123, Hobart TAS 7001, by 23 November 2025.
Selection of artwork for the exhibition will be at the discretion of Disability Commissioner Tasmania.
Artists will be notified of the outcome after 25 November 2025.
Disability Commissioner Tasmania will pay to courier the artwork to and from the venue if required. We will contact you to arrange collection of your artwork. For two and three dimensional artwork, please protect it by wrapping it in bubble wrap or a material that will help protect it. Please label it with your name. All care will be taken to protect the artwork from damage or loss during transit and at the exhibition. For Hobart-based artists, you can drop off your artwork at our new office location at Level 5, 188 Collins Street, Hobart.
Disability Commissioner Tasmania may assist with accommodation and travel expenses for selected artists based outside of Hobart and surrounds. Please contact us to make arrangements if required.
‘Living My Best Life’ Art Exhibition will be held from Wednesday 10 December - Thursday 11 December. An online gallery will featured on our website.
Artwork will be returned to artists from 12 December 2025. Contact us if you would like to make alternative arrangements for collection.
